The Bridge

I wander alone down this road
My cart has one wheel that wobbles
What belongs to me is what you see
Don’t try to take it from me or squabble

Coming to a broken concrete bridge
The only way to get past the river
Up ahead a clown jumped up and down
Showing it’s safe but the river made him shiver

What do you see when you read
Two men at their end of their future
I see what happens when two men don’t heed
Who have nothing to show for their adventures

  1. Hi Michael,

We come in with nothing we go out with nothing. I have spent my life not heeding what others say. Consequently, I have had some ‘adventures’ I’d rather not have had. lol What do I have to show for those adventures? Three fresh starts from having everything to having nothing; except the greatest things of all; friends, family and memories.

I really enjoyed reading this poem, Michael. Very deep and metaphorical.

  2. I have always been the sort to go my own way and in the process I have made some mistakes, acquired some sizable regrets but I have also created beautiful impossible moments. I never would have found my husband if I wasn’t obstinate, risks were involved and it was totally worth it!

The new prompt is up if you are available
