Curling Smoke

Cutting the strings that had bound my heart
Curling up with the smoke as it departs
From the hot embers that refuse to cool
Songs, thoughts, or dreams for a fool

A forgotten memory of the first kiss
Now able to listen to our songs I miss
Thoughts awake and dreams while I sleep
Acceptance comes hard, witnessed when I weep

  1. The best thing about smoke is we can see through them. Another great set of words, Michael.

  2. This is beautiful, Michael…sad, but necessary to let go of the past… it sure can be difficult though.

  3. The last line, was just amazing, acceptance, I agree–is difficult for me probably the one thing that can set us free.
