St George’s Shield

Caught up with the kites around me
Winds taking us through the light blue skies
All for me to wonder is laid out below
The clouds billow and stretch before my eyes

Children dream with dragons flying up high
With St George’s shield deflecting their flames
Down drafts thrust the kites to the earth
The crosses crippled down with heaven’s blame

Parents stroke their children’s hair and blot tears
Hoping more time would make them all right
Burnt edges angry now from lightning
Crosses twisting wildly now in the night

Writing away with the wind and rain
Caught up as the twisting crosses fly
Parents and children scatter below
Dark clouds swirl; stretch angry threats from the sky

When Shadows Disappear

How long do the shadows grow before they disappear?
When do the smiles fade when all hope is turned to fear?
Why does wonder finally start to seek its own level?
Where you look around before compromising with the devil?

Here’s the questions the barker promises, the mystic will answer.
Just a tenth of a dollar gets you in, plus you’ll see the dancers.
She looks at the lad gave back his day’s wage and hit him on the rear
Pushes him out the back was gone before his shadow disappeared

Stone 1

I’ve lost the wonder from my vision
All is black and white
I’ve lost the vision from my wonder
Fatigue blinds my sight

Morning Nodding

I still shake off the heads morning nodding
After a hot cup of coffees prodding
The emails waiting some of them baiting
Smiling I answer without the hating

Sitting there rocking begins the ponder
Of what to write now, mind starts to wonder
One sentence starts off coffees now prodding
I still shake off the heads morning nodding

Love’s Affirm and Lament

Of thee I do write, these words to ponder
No one for me who’s no less a wonder
Cry in your absence, laugh when you’re near
If you ever leave, is my greatest fear
