Your Desires Deserve Revisited

Why are you making it so hard?
Keeping your lonely heart on guard
You want to get me down on my knees
To help you decide to become free

I’m too tired to try and play the game
Tit for tat is never quite the same
It’s time to come down on your own
Off your towering self-absorbed throne

This is our last chance before I leave
Let me turn back for you to see
Here I am giving my hand and heart
Your desires deserve a new start

Evening Shore (revisited)

As I started towards the evening shore
It revealed foot prints that began at our door
Knowing they were yours going to the sea
I matched your strong gait feeling anxiety

There sitting alone at the water’s edge
The sand around you formed a wedge
High tide came and left a little moat
Left you sitting higher appearing to float

I called out your name now running towards you
Found you cross legged, hands in your lap blue
Eyes closed with a smile etched on your calm face
Suddenly left us laughing with your cool embrace

Eternal Treasure

Nothing can hold back the tide
Nor lasso the circling moon
Keeping the sun from morning
Or stopping the spring cocoons

I can add to this my soul
Your smile melting my heart
The depth of your sparkling eyes
Opening my sight from the start

All that I have to give you
Is that my fondness is forever
And that you’ll be protected
As my eternal treasure

In honor of upcoming Valentine’s Day, we thought we’d ask something a bit more, shall we say, sensual of our Trifectans.  Your task this week, should you choose to accept it, is to write a love scene in no fewer than 33 and no more than 333 words.

Quandary

Telling of love, with words that are unique;
Often afraid of the other’s critique.
This sometimes makes it, difficult to speak.
To give and to gain love, that you spoke of and seek.

So I Might Smile

Resonating reflections of my voice
Hollow echoes of your name
Lighting candles could have been your choice
In lieu of extinguished flames

Thinking that I can read your mind
As if it’s something I could do
To know your feelings though I’m blind
Still thinking you love me too

Instead of putting false hope in gloves
Only to beat myself in blame
Please allow me God to enjoy my love
So I might smile at the sound of her name

Black Steam

Black steam rises as I begin to let go
Slowly measured so I don’t start to blow
Anger, envy and depression are about to crack
Red, green and blue mixed turn to black

Red because our relationship that I destroyed
Green over all their happiness they now enjoy
Blue for the girl I lost, that I used to cling
Black together putting on their new rings

The Poetry Pantry

The Porch and Swing

Ten long steps up to the porch and the swing
Steps hollowed out while the footings a light spring
The railings smoothed from all the hands grabbing
And the roof with a slight bow as its sagging

There she sits on one foot quietly reading
I slide in real close with one arm squeezing
All is quiet and she touches my hand
The afternoon couldn’t have been better planned

Does Loving Hurt?

Where’d you think I’d go?
You know how I feel so
I knew you’d be waiting there
Because neither of us would dare

To walk away feeling this way
Walking together till we’re gray
Even knowing how bad it gets
With each of us crying to quit

The love and pain we share
Can’t ever even compare
Because I know how you feel so
Where did you think I’d go?

You Know?

The cynical nature of romantic love
Truly an over emphasized emotion
Written everywhere by everyone
Whoever had loved and then lost

A cycle of ups and downs that
That is always carrying you
Past life with only one concern
Them and their happiness above your own

So we sacrifice beyond what we are able
Finally to the point where you are exhausted
Or you find a reciprocal soul giving back
Good luck with that

Then the romance is gone either way
But then you may find happiness
Unless you fall into the hole of
The cynical nature of romantic love

Entrust

Entrust your love while you are gone away
You are off to fight to come back some day
Your friend for some years has proven his worth
To care for your wife who is going to birth

The war lasts for years your time is now done
You come home to find you fathered a son
Not yet three years old he’s handsome and bright
He talks like a man wants to be a great knight

Wooden sword and shield he fights the bad men
But most of the time he just scares the hens
His friend told the boy his father’s great deeds
He fended for his wife and filled all their needs
